I have many problems. As do we all. But my problems, they are mine and I shall deal with them.

I'm still fighting with the govt. security. I don't want to go into it, as I'm finally calm again after bawling on the phone with them. Argh.

My yoga client cancelled as she had appointments to deal with (she had to renew her massage license). His Lordship took the day off as it isn't busy and he had an early dentist appointment. So we went to the grocery store after he got home and I have foodstuffs for the week.

The other mosaic project? Well I'm on the last of it (I promise, I'll post pics when I'm done), but it's not going to be as easy as the other two tubes. For those I could keep the tiles on the mesh and just place them. This one requires that I cut everything apart as it's offset. In order to make it work and look pleasing to the eye, I've made a grid on excel and will plot out my pattern. No freestyling for moi!

That's all I've got today.

Carrying on!

More rereads this week:

12. The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
I keep seeing Giles in my head. That's my big takeaway. It's not as fresh as I remember, but I'ma still read them.

13. The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan
I did see that Pierce Brosnan played Chiron in the previous movie, now it's Giles. Funny how they are the same, yet different. Heh. N E way....again, not as fresh, but clever. Quick reads.

14. The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan
Honestly? I don't recall reading this. Maybe I started the series so long ago he hadn't finished it! So new stuff. I was big into Greek Mythology as a kid, so this does tend to tick my boxes. It's fun trying to figure out who is supposed to be what as well.

Now I'm reading this: 15. Bellewether by Susanna Kearsley
She uses the same "formula" of going between chapters, between eras. It's a nice device, but could get tiring if one was to read them back to back to back. This is some history I wasn't much into. It's very interesting so far.

I'm off to yoga and then meeting a pal for lunch.

Take care kids!

I've got a few to talk about. Heh. That's what happens when one...chills.

5. Edward VII: The Prince of Wales and the Women He Loved by Catharine Arnold
This book. Hmm. This was only about the women Bertie loved. Not a complete bio, but an abbreviated one. I had already read a bio about him, so this was all stuff I knew. It was interesting, but if you decide to read a complete bio, let me refer you to: The Heir Apparent: A Life of Edward VII, the Playboy Princeby Jane Ridley as it was quite comprehensive.

6. Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
My first reread of the year. I was watching the movie and decided to read the book. Move vs. book is very different. But I enjoyed revisiting it.

7. The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
Well, since I had it...decided to reread as well. Interestingly, as I had just finished Angels and Demons, I realized how similar the two books were as far as plot, pacing, etc. I'm on a wait list for the next book in the series. I remember reading this all in one go one summer. Found it fascinating. Now? Hmmm. I still liked it, but parts just make me cringe. Oh well, it's a fun read.

8. Dumplin' by Julie Murphy
We had watched the movie a few months back and it was on the available list so...why not! Again, book vs. movie; very different. Still good. I recommend.

9. Puddin' by Julie Murphy
This was also available, so I grabbed it as well. It's called a "companion" book, but I would call it a sequel as it takes place after the first book. More insight into two of the peripheral characters, one of which the movie kinda glosses over. Again, well written and I enjoyed. Read it! (after you read the first one).

10. As the Crow Flies by Craig Johnson
There are a few more books in the 'Longmire' series before I finish. This was next so off we go. I do enjoy reading his books. He can be, umm, un-PC, but he acknowledges it and he says he gets permission from his First Nation friends. As long as everyone gets it....

11. A Serpent's Tooth by Craig Johnson
Next in the series. All these books are fun to read. They aren't fluffy fun, but good solid reads and detective type books. Matter of fact, it's just these last two that I guessed the baddie. Sometimes they are hard to spot!

I'm now rereading the Rick Riordan books starting with The Lightning Thief. Have I mentioned I love to read?

In other, non reading news....life is going well. I just came from a yoga class which I thoroughly enjoyed. Very nice getting out and doing something for me!

It's a bit cold and rainy today, but I'm home and settled. I think I'm going to make Sloppy Joe Salad for dinner. Sounds yummy. Now for a smoothie!

Hi kids! *waves*

I've been MIA, down for the count, out of it. I totally missed the 12th day stuff, I've been....yeah. Missing.

Nothing dire, just life. Yanno? Another (yes, yes, I made a doctor's appointment) uti, new glasses that are kicking my butt (progressives, getting old ain't for sissies!) and dealing (albeit long distance) with my stepmom and her shenanigans. Yikes!

I'm adjusting to my glasses, uti is under control, mom (I call her mom) is settling in to her new routine and the two step sibs have each other's backs. When life isn't going well, I tend to hibernate and just...not. Now I'm back to being me and life doesn't look so dim. Cycles.

The upside is I've been reading like mad. I'm on my 9th book this year (which, yeah, but I'm just getting started!) and I have two more on hold at the digital library. I have plans to reread a bunch of stuff I have here, so that's a go. I'm still making bears and boobs for charity and that's good as well.

I also deleted (geez, it's been over a year!) all the old yoga stuff. Trying super hard to just let all that go. Not worry about "them". I started back at a new place once a week. That is refreshing to get another yoga perspective. I'm still dithering whether I'll continue my personal teaching once His Lordship retires. Right now, I'm leaning toward not, but we'll see. His original plan was to retire around his 60th b-day (a year from May) but now he's thinking he doesn't want to do another winter of getting up in the dark, shoveling out and driving with idiots up the highway. Again, we'll see.

The Heir is in Cabo this week with his gf's family. He's having a fantastic time. They have lots (and I do mean LOTS) of money so they are at a fancy, all inclusive resort right on the beach. He's called me 3 times just full of himself (and the free wifi!). Silly boy. He made an interesting, spur of the moment comment that went something along the lines of "...I'm marrying money...". o-O

We'll see is my new mantra.

I'm making corned beef, et.al. today and The Spare is supposed to show up. I also made a new recipe: Bailey's Chocolate Chip pound cake. It smelled divine baking, I hope it tastes as good. His Lordship's pal W is coming over as well.

So that's my story. Sorry, again, for not commenting or writing. Sometimes a girl has to chill.

Smooches to all!

I kinda lost the plot yesterday and wasn't feeling well. It happens.

I pooped around most of the morning, managed to shovel some snow (ugh) and then went to my knocker meeting. I had 4 bears and 8 sets of knockers to deliver, so I felt I needed to go. I didn't stay for the whole meeting and was definitely "off".

Came home and napped a bit, then dinner and then tv and bed. So yeah, no plot.

His Lordship is home today and tomorrow. I'm feeling better today. We may venture out later.

Hope all is well with youse!

It wasn't the "big" storm predicted, that's supposed to happen tonight. Sigh. I really, really dislike snow down in the valley. People just don't know how to drive, the city doesn't have enough equipment to deal with it (as it doesn't happen every.single.year and, I can't emphasize this enough, SNOW BELONGS IN THE MOUNTAINS.

That said, I had to get up at o'dark thirty so I could get to an 8am dentist appt. And drive carefully IN THE SNOW. I have this teeny little MINI Cooper S. Yes, it has front wheel drive, but it's teeny. And what with the snow blowing and the ginormous trucks all around...no can see me!

Dentist called me good. I made it home safely. All is well. Except the "BIG" storm is supposed to happen tonight. We'll see.

Stupid snow.

I do this every time. Every. Damn. Time.

We are having company tonight, rather than do stuff yesterday, I sat on the couch. Now I have a ton to do (and I've already done a ton) and I'm going to be so wiped out tonight. Le sigh. You'd think I'd learn.

In other, startlingly awful, news; seems there is a serial killer on the loose. Two people in another county and two people here. 3 days apart, seems to be targeting "elderly" people. Although one of the women in Minden was only 56. That's younger than me!!

Everyone here is on high alert; don't let anyone in (why would you do that?), keep your cell phone charged, keep your lights on, stay away from Walmart (which was new, and not on the news but I heard it from an "insider" - I'm sure that ticked off Wally World - but there seems to be some kind of connection), and all the usual. There was a huge press conference yesterday with all the combined law enforcement types. Which I found interesting. My insider had already alerted me about it and that the FBI and under cover task force was involved. The press conference confirmed same, if you knew how to read between the lines. Come to find out today that the couple killed here in sw Reno were a high profile couple. Well, that explains the news conference. I'm cynical, I know. But I'm on high alert and all is well.

Back to cleaning!

I guess I forgot to post yesterday...coulda sworn I did, but oh well! These things happen.

I love Saturdays that start with the "Great British Bake Off" and coffee. Doesn't matter that I've seen all the episodes/seasons (except the new holiday one, I have to catch that). It's also nice to wake up to a pot of coffee already made, thanks to His Lordship still getting up too early for words. ;)

The early part of the day was spent tidying up between watching PBS shows and wrapping a few last minute presents. At 3pm we had to start getting ready for "party day" as His Lordship called it. We had an open house and a dinner to attend. Both were fun and lovely. We got home at a reasonable hour too. Maybe someday I'll have a party here, but not this year.

His Lordship actually slept until 8:30 this morning! That is waay late for him! I've got my tablet all set up to watch the Vikings at 10 (it's not televised here because stupid west coast teams are stupid). I'll text with my fellow fan in Tucson and all will be well. I've got laundry started (I don't want to do it tomorrow - no). We have a few food type things to deliver this afternoon and it'll be a quiet day. The boyz have told me they'll be over tomorrow 'noonish'. We shall see!

And it's Festivus today! So air your grievances around the pole and a Happy Festivus to the Rest of Us!!!!

Well, a 4 day weekend for His Lordship. Me? I'm home all the time!

I went to the grocery today and it was mildly busy. Busier than a normal morning grocery shop. More moms with kids as they littles (and bigs) are out of school for 3 weeks on "winter" break. S'cool. I let all the very busy people go ahead of me. It's the least I can do.

Kids have informed me that they will not be coming on Sunday, but will show up around noon on Monday. I shan't hold my breath, I might turn blue! They both have the "late" gene from my mom. If you wanted mom to show up somewhere at 2pm, you told her to be there at noon. Then she'd be on time. Until she cottoned to that and showed up at 4. She loved to make an entrance, did my mom.

We have two parties to attend tomorrow. One an open house, one a dinner. It'll be fun. I'm ready and we are well.

I hope everyone is enjoying this longest night.

Bless.

...adulted. But first; yesterday.

I did go to coffee with my new/old friend. We went to a 'new' coffee place that was not actually set up for customers to come in and drink a cuppa. Hmmm. But we did and they were very nice about the whole thing. We sat for about 2 hours, drank 2 cups each (I had "dirty" chai and was flying all day). She sprinkles her conversations with "...and the Lord told me..I asked the Lord to....I was worried and the Lord took my fear from me..." I smiled and nodded. Addictive personality indeed. Could be worse, could be crack. I don't think she approves of yoga. ;)

I was pretty done after that and came home and didn't. His Lordship came home and was so very tired, he napped. It was a quiet evening and we watched The Curse of Oak Island. Those people have more money than brains, but if it's still on once His Lordship is retired we are totally doing the drinking game!

Today I girded my loins and did the above mentioned adulting by driving across town to the bank (it was my mom's account). It was much easier than I anticipated and now that is done. I have one more account to deal with (paralegal) and then taxes. What will I complain about when that is over???? ;)

His Lordship and I did some yard work, raking up all the oak leaves on our property. We have no oak trees by the way. But they blow in from the school and the neighbors. There are times I'm tempted to throw them back but...no. One must have good neighbor karma, right? Ammirite?

Dinner is over and I'm not sure about the rest of the evening. We shall proceed.

I'm meeting up with an old friend recently reconnected for coffee/tea at a new place here in town. I haven't actually seen her in years, but we were friends when our kids were small. It's going to be interesting. She was very involved in an MLM when I met her (Amway) and now they have, seemingly, renounced that and embraced and uber Christian lifestyle. I shall remain neutral!

I got 19+ dozen cookies made yesterday, the bulk of the laundry done (still need to do rugs and towels) and we went to dinner at friend's house. It was really a nice, albeit busy, day.

I may go to the bank after coffee, but we'll see how it goes.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Yesterday I finished decorating all the gingerbread snowflake cookies. I get overly ambitious and then....yeah. But they came out nicely. Vikings won, which was fun. I love texting with my friend during the game.

The Heir was supposed to come over for lunch, but Saturday night was the "santa crawl" and as he works at a restaurant....he was pretty tired. He had to work again at 4pm yesterday (hence lunch) and he was too tired. I'm okay with that. Silly kid texted me at 11:30pm to tell me he loved me. I love him too, but don't wake me up!

The Spare was also a no-show as it was the get together with the dad of his friend that had passed a few years ago.

We just plotzed around.

Today I'm making another batch of cookies. We have a dinner to attend tonight. Tomorrow I'm meeting a friend for coffee. 'Tis the season!

Hope all is well!

Ack! I didn't post yesterday! Broke my steak. Ah well. It was a busy day as today will be as well.

Yesterday )

Today I'm baking cookies and His Lordship is off to a friends house to show him his go-pro attached to the MINI. That man. That car. *sigh*

Tonight, we have a party to attend, but it won't last long. My friend who had surgery is having a birthday party for her husband and I don't want to overstay. We made crab dip and it's 'melding' in the fridge. I imagine we'll be home by 9.

I'm off, have a great Saturday my flist!

Today is certainly better. I didn't do much besides laundry yesterday. And drank all the water. Doing the same today, tomorrow I'm hoping for back to normal.

It's warmer here today. It was bitterly cold yesterday. Boo.

Got some sad news about an old friend who is fighting lung cancer. She's younger than me. So sad. I hope she beats it.

Not much else going on around here. Vikings lost last night, but it was obvious that Seattle really wanted to win. So there ya go.

I may go get warm on the couch and read for a bit.

Day 26 - What form of expression are you most grateful for?

My first thought was, "Haven't I answered this?". But I guess not. Hmmm. I do like to hear and say I love you. And mean it.

We had our first snow last night and the roads are a mess today. Most schools are on a 2 hour delay and some in the higher elevations are on a "digital day". Seems they (the school district in it's infinite wisdom) have done away with "snow days". Kids have packets or have to get online to to learning and then there will be no make up days at the end of school. I've talked to teachers and they are not amused nor impressed by this. Although they do like the not having to make up days. So, *shrugs*. I'm very glad to be out of it and that my kids are out of it. I feel for parents today though. Really and truly.

The roads are bad enough that police are asking that people stay home if they can so His Lordship called in today. He has some vacation days left, so that's sorted. It's kinda weird having him home in the middle of the week, but in a nice way. He is currently watching a bad sci-fi movie whilst I do my morning routine.

Kids, I do - truly - love you all!

Day #4 - What food are you most grateful for?

Today I'm grateful for tacos. Not because it's taco Tuesday, that's just serendipity. To be more specific, I'm grateful for my mom's tacos.

His Lordship took the day off, The Princelings came over early (really early for them!) and we took a trek up the mountain, found a nice place overlooking the lake and spread mom's ashes. It was quiet, riotous (lots of "The Big Lebowski" quotes), and for me, cathartic.

When we got home, I made tacos for lunch. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but making these tacos...such a big deal. How are they different? Start with ground beef, corn tortillas and your favorite taco seasoning. Mash some of the raw ground beef on the half the corn tortilla and sprinkle with your seasoning. Repeat until the ground beef is gone. I got 23 tacos today. In a large dutch oven, melt shortening (or lard) or pour in oil. Heat it up. Take some tongs and pinch the ends of the tortilla and gently set into the hot oil. I can fry 3 at a time. YMMV. Cook until the beef is done. Serve with shredded cheese, shredded iceberg lettuce, tomato sauce and canned peas. Yes. Peas. They are delicious and they are well loved. Like mom was.

Tuesday, November 13th, 2018 08:31 am
I actually got up fairly early today (for me) as my normal 4pm yoga client is coming at 9am. I probably hit the snooze bar enough times to keep me in bed until 7am, but then I got up and had tea and a slice of banana bread I made yesterday. It’s…not bad. I made it with Miracle Whip instead of eggs and butter. I think I like the original better, but this isn’t bad.

My yoga client showed up right at 9am and we chatted it out for about ½ an hour (she’s a friend too) and then we got going. Did yoga for about an hour, then we chatted some more until about 11:30.

His Lordship got our Wii up and running after about 5 years and so I did some Wii stuff. My balance isn’t bad, but my feet! Oh my! Anyway, got that going. Put a load of laundry in as I’d totally spaced that as my day is a bit off due to the holiday and then it was time for lunch. Leftover Chicken Pot Pie! Yum.

I watched a documentary on Youtube about Henry VIII. Interesting as I’d never seen it, but no real new discoveries re: his death. I took a shower and continued with laundry.

His Lordship came home around 2:30 and I took a nap on the couch whilst he decompressed from his day. I woke up rather bad moody. Possibly due to what I need to do tomorrow – spread my mom’s ashes. His Lordship had done his outside chores before it got too cold/dark. I decided that we needed Chinese food for dinner so he went to get Panda Express.

I pretty much stayed on the couch, saving the times I moved laundry around, the rest of the evening. I watched mindless tv and didn’t talk much.

Went to bed at 10pm and was unable to sleep well. Definitely thinking about what was to come.
