Again. It's 31F out, but His Lordship has shoveled. Thank goodness. I just don't have it in me today. We had company last night and I'm still pretty wiped out. Sat for too long in one position and my hip is giving me fits. I'll work it out, but wasn't going to risk it shoveling today.

Don't have any idea if the kids are coming, they can stay home and safe if they choose. Up to them. It's not coming down hard right now and may not. One of my friends said it's like we're in a snow globe here and some keeps shaking it. Boo.

The school district called a "digital day" i.e. a snow day on Friday and then all heck broke loose as the State Dept. of Education says they are illegal and the kids (and teachers) may have to make the day up at the end of the year. I bet the DOE caves and they don't. Tomorrow is a holiday (President's Day) so no worries until Thursday when it's supposed to dump on us again.

And FYI - digital days? For the elementary school (where I have friends with kids still there) the things they were supposed to do? Play a game. Build a snowman. Read for 10 minutes. Uh huh. Just gonna leave that there.

Stay warm and dry ya'll!

I kinda lost the plot yesterday and wasn't feeling well. It happens.

I pooped around most of the morning, managed to shovel some snow (ugh) and then went to my knocker meeting. I had 4 bears and 8 sets of knockers to deliver, so I felt I needed to go. I didn't stay for the whole meeting and was definitely "off".

Came home and napped a bit, then dinner and then tv and bed. So yeah, no plot.

His Lordship is home today and tomorrow. I'm feeling better today. We may venture out later.

Hope all is well with youse!

It wasn't the "big" storm predicted, that's supposed to happen tonight. Sigh. I really, really dislike snow down in the valley. People just don't know how to drive, the city doesn't have enough equipment to deal with it (as it doesn't happen every.single.year and, I can't emphasize this enough, SNOW BELONGS IN THE MOUNTAINS.

That said, I had to get up at o'dark thirty so I could get to an 8am dentist appt. And drive carefully IN THE SNOW. I have this teeny little MINI Cooper S. Yes, it has front wheel drive, but it's teeny. And what with the snow blowing and the ginormous trucks all around...no can see me!

Dentist called me good. I made it home safely. All is well. Except the "BIG" storm is supposed to happen tonight. We'll see.

Stupid snow.

Day 26 - What form of expression are you most grateful for?

My first thought was, "Haven't I answered this?". But I guess not. Hmmm. I do like to hear and say I love you. And mean it.

We had our first snow last night and the roads are a mess today. Most schools are on a 2 hour delay and some in the higher elevations are on a "digital day". Seems they (the school district in it's infinite wisdom) have done away with "snow days". Kids have packets or have to get online to to learning and then there will be no make up days at the end of school. I've talked to teachers and they are not amused nor impressed by this. Although they do like the not having to make up days. So, *shrugs*. I'm very glad to be out of it and that my kids are out of it. I feel for parents today though. Really and truly.

The roads are bad enough that police are asking that people stay home if they can so His Lordship called in today. He has some vacation days left, so that's sorted. It's kinda weird having him home in the middle of the week, but in a nice way. He is currently watching a bad sci-fi movie whilst I do my morning routine.

Kids, I do - truly - love you all!

I talked (it wasn't hard) His Lordship into going grocery shopping with me yesterday as the weather report said it was supposed to start snowing around 4am. So that's done for the week.

I stayed up late last night to watch the USA vs. Canada gold medal hockey game. I'm not a big hockey fan and don't know that much about the sport. Thank my Google-fu for the assist. It was quite the exciting time, but I got to bed much later than I normally do.

The text I got at 6:15am said it was just windy and no snow and he was fine. The Facebooks said the school district, in it's infinite wisdom, was going to have a two hour delayed start due to the winter weather. I looked out the window and there was nothing. I read for a bit and fell back asleep.

My terrible, awful bad dream woke me up around 9:30 and there was still no snow. As I look out my back window right now, it's just starting to come down and the facebook people are saying it's coming down like woah in the North Valley (where His Lordship works - a bit higher elevation). Just in time for the commute to school.

I know why they didn't just call a snow day. I talked to one of my friends who still works for the district and, evidently, there were no contingency days put into the school calendar. If there is a snow day, the kids will have to come back to school the Monday after the stated last day. If there are two, everyone comes Monday but Tuesday is an election day so only teachers go back. Three days? Monday everyone, Tuesday just teacher and Wednesday everyone. Like any of that will happen. What maroons.

Last year there were so many snow days called that they canceled all the Wednesday early release days (used for teacher professional development) so they could make them up without coming back. Evidently they got their hands slapped about that from the Dept. of Education. Oh boy.

Today looks like a good day to read in front of the fireplace.
