I'm meeting up with an old friend recently reconnected for coffee/tea at a new place here in town. I haven't actually seen her in years, but we were friends when our kids were small. It's going to be interesting. She was very involved in an MLM when I met her (Amway) and now they have, seemingly, renounced that and embraced and uber Christian lifestyle. I shall remain neutral!

I got 19+ dozen cookies made yesterday, the bulk of the laundry done (still need to do rugs and towels) and we went to dinner at friend's house. It was really a nice, albeit busy, day.

I may go to the bank after coffee, but we'll see how it goes.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Yesterday I finished decorating all the gingerbread snowflake cookies. I get overly ambitious and then....yeah. But they came out nicely. Vikings won, which was fun. I love texting with my friend during the game.

The Heir was supposed to come over for lunch, but Saturday night was the "santa crawl" and as he works at a restaurant....he was pretty tired. He had to work again at 4pm yesterday (hence lunch) and he was too tired. I'm okay with that. Silly kid texted me at 11:30pm to tell me he loved me. I love him too, but don't wake me up!

The Spare was also a no-show as it was the get together with the dad of his friend that had passed a few years ago.

We just plotzed around.

Today I'm making another batch of cookies. We have a dinner to attend tonight. Tomorrow I'm meeting a friend for coffee. 'Tis the season!

Hope all is well!

Ack! I didn't post yesterday! Broke my steak. Ah well. It was a busy day as today will be as well.

Yesterday )

Today I'm baking cookies and His Lordship is off to a friends house to show him his go-pro attached to the MINI. That man. That car. *sigh*

Tonight, we have a party to attend, but it won't last long. My friend who had surgery is having a birthday party for her husband and I don't want to overstay. We made crab dip and it's 'melding' in the fridge. I imagine we'll be home by 9.

I'm off, have a great Saturday my flist!

Day 25 - What moment this week are you most grateful for?

It's early in the week, but I can honestly say that I'm grateful that my kids still like to come over on Sunday for dinner. I never pressure them, I tell them it's okay if they are busy. I guess I never really realized how lucky I am that they still come most every Sunday - even if it's just for an hour or so. Bless those boys.

Speaking of which, The Heir stopped by last night to pick up a package that had been delivered and brought his gf along. She's so sweet. I really like her. His Lordship wasn't feeling too great, so they didn't linger. I think the cold (it's only supposed to be in the low 30's the next two days) has gotten into His Lordship's bones and he's...cranky.

We finished making the cookies yesterday; got 17 1/2 doz. Not bad. I have a list of things to do today so I best get started or I'll run out of time. Darn short days!

Toodles!

Yesterday I made dark chocolate Guinness cupcakes with Bailey's cream cheese frosting. A different take on the cake I've made over the years. Who doesn't like a cupcake?

The American version of an Irish meal is in the crockpot: corned beef, red potatoes and carrots with a dash of Guinness. The cabbage will be added later.

I've got Soda Biscuits baking right now; with caraway seeds and currants.

His Lordship's pal W is coming over to help us eat all this food. The leftover cupcakes will be eaten tomorrow by The Princelings. (They don't care for corned beef and cabbage).

We eat pretty good here.

So much going on today! It's Wednesday which means it's Hump Day (Mike!). It's 3.14 which means it's....wait for it....Pi Day!

Serendipitously, I'm making onion pie for dinner! Maybe I'll make bitty individual berry pies for dessert. I do like a good pie on pi day.

And, it's Whatcha Reading Day!

13. The Perfect Horse: The Daring U.S. Mission to Rescue the Priceless Stallions Kidnapped by the Nazis by Elizabeth Letts
A little too much “war” history for me in this one. I ‘m glad I read it, but will cop to skimming parts that didn’t pertain directly to the horses.

14. Raspberry Danish Murder by Joanne Fluke
Another Hannah Swenson mystery that I’d forgotten I had on my hold’s list. A fluffy read I finished in less than a day.

15. Kindness Goes Unpunished by Craig Johnson
The second of the Longmire books. They are so completely different from the TV series and I’m quite enjoying them. I really like the dry humor of the main character. It doesn’t come across in the TV series.

16. Another Man's Moccasins by Craig Johnson
The third Longmire book. This one went back and forth in time as Longmire is a Vietnam Vet (as is his buddy Henry). Since I just recently watched the Ken Burns series about Vietnam, this was quite interesting. I hope all this series continues to be as entertaining as the first 3 books.

It is supposed to rain, possibly snow today but it's clear right now. I think I'll go for a walk!

Carry on my nerdy pals!

I forgot to post my cookie making this year! Besides the normal 23 dozen Fat Lady Legs and the 18 dozen pitzels, I also made these stars and trees!

The fat lady legs are gone, the pitzels are down to a few dozen and we only have a few stars and trees left. Guess what I got for Christmas? Fat. I got fat for Christmas! Ha!

I've been searching the interwebz and finally found where I can watch GBBO on the computer. I'm totally unspoiled as to the season 8 winner, so please....don't tell me. I watched the first episode tonight and was quite pleasantly surprised at liking the new hosts/judge. I really like this show and look forward to watching more tomorrow.

I've been working on my crocheting for the craft show, using up yarn. I've decided to start things at $10 and then after an hour drop everything to $5.00. I really want to move this stuff. (and hopefully I haven't said this all before! *iz old*)

I made a most delicious dinner of thick cut boneless porkchops, roasted Brussels sprouts with sriracha mayo and home made biscuits. I'm a very full, very happy girl.

Ta!

Saw this recipe and had to try it. I don't know why I do this to myself, but they sure turn out pretty.

Chai Spice Gingerbread cookies with orange royal icing.

I'm baking banana bread. It's what one does when one has half a dozen black bananas. Yum.

And this is what I did:

Mini loaves of banana bread with mini chocolate chips

So much better and tastier!
