Friday 5 - maybe from
spikesgirl58?
It's a seemingly never ending task - grocery shopping.
1. Do you make up a dinner plan for the coming week?
I do! I've done it for, oh....more than a decade. It takes practice, but honestly? I got tired of asking what people (male people) wanted for dinner and getting back "...something good...". One week I was so fed up I made chicken all week. For seven straight days. They didn't even cotton to it until the 4th day. So now I plan out what I'm going to make (just dinners) for the week! Saves so much money! I can't even tell you.
2. Do you make up a shopping list and stick to it when shopping?
I do! I recently was told that I was a "hunter/killer" type of grocery shopper as I stick to the list, get in and get out. No browsing for me. Although when the boys were teeny, it was "my" time and I could take up to 3 hours to shop. Just to get out of the house and away from the fray for a bit. Now? In/Out. Done.
3. What is one thing that you always buy, but never put down on a list?
Oh no, honey! If it isn't on the list, I don't buy it.
4. Is there anything that you always think you are out of and come home with it to discover you already have a year’s supply on hand?
I did that recently with toilet paper, although only a month's supply rather than a year's. At least I know it'll get used and won't rot!
5. Do you get your groceries delivered?
I do not. I'm sure it's a service that is appreciated by many, but...no.
And longtime friends will know that I shop, weekly, at Winco. It's a semi-warehouse type of store in that it's very minimal. And cheap! And the turnover is excellent so the food is good as well. I'm careful not to shop on the first 3 days of the month as it's hella crowded. Now that I'm "retired" I can go whenever so I usually go first thing in the morning. I avoid all the crowds and am usually done in less than 45 minutes. Seriously, I even have a grocery list that is set up to the store by aisle. Yes, I'm a nerd.
