Friday 5 - maybe from [personal profile] spikesgirl58?

It's a seemingly never ending task - grocery shopping.

1. Do you make up a dinner plan for the coming week?
I do! I've done it for, oh....more than a decade. It takes practice, but honestly? I got tired of asking what people (male people) wanted for dinner and getting back "...something good...". One week I was so fed up I made chicken all week. For seven straight days. They didn't even cotton to it until the 4th day. So now I plan out what I'm going to make (just dinners) for the week! Saves so much money! I can't even tell you.

2. Do you make up a shopping list and stick to it when shopping?
I do! I recently was told that I was a "hunter/killer" type of grocery shopper as I stick to the list, get in and get out. No browsing for me. Although when the boys were teeny, it was "my" time and I could take up to 3 hours to shop. Just to get out of the house and away from the fray for a bit. Now? In/Out. Done.

3. What is one thing that you always buy, but never put down on a list?
Oh no, honey! If it isn't on the list, I don't buy it.

4. Is there anything that you always think you are out of and come home with it to discover you already have a year’s supply on hand?
I did that recently with toilet paper, although only a month's supply rather than a year's. At least I know it'll get used and won't rot!

5. Do you get your groceries delivered?
I do not. I'm sure it's a service that is appreciated by many, but...no.

And longtime friends will know that I shop, weekly, at Winco. It's a semi-warehouse type of store in that it's very minimal. And cheap! And the turnover is excellent so the food is good as well. I'm careful not to shop on the first 3 days of the month as it's hella crowded. Now that I'm "retired" I can go whenever so I usually go first thing in the morning. I avoid all the crowds and am usually done in less than 45 minutes. Seriously, I even have a grocery list that is set up to the store by aisle. Yes, I'm a nerd.

I really liked this [community profile] thefridayfive:

These questions were written by Dreamwidth user Archersangel.

1. What size (twin, full, etc.) is your bed?
It's a California King pillow top bamboo mattress. We can't flip it, but we do rotate it. I love it. It lives in a waterbed frame (from the late 70's) so it's a platform. I'm trying to get His Lordship to make a riser for it as it's becoming harder for me to change the bedding alone. Sux getting old. Heh.

2. How many pillows do you sleep with?
Two. One for my head is infused with lavender and the "old" one is for between my knees. It keeps my hips even and lessens low back pain.

3. Do you have a weighted blanket? If so, does it help you?
No - we have a duvet with a light cotton cover for winter although I'm noticing we may need a new one as all the down is in the middle. In the summer we have a lightweight quilt. All plaid. I'm not one for foofy stuff.

4. Do you sleep with any stuffed animals?
No and no extra pillows either. The little black dog used to sleep with us before he got too infirm to jump on the bed.

5. Do you have to have the TV on to go to sleep?
No and we don't really use the bedroom tv anymore now that the princelings have moved out.

It's been hotter than blue blazes around here. Especially with no AC in the house except the kitchen and then it's freezing in there. Can't win, just gotta vent. Heh.

First reading....I have been and now I have two books lined up and need to get reading!

Time for the [community profile] thefridayfive

1. Describe your favorite outfit.
Oh man. I have favorites by the season I guess. I love a comfy flannel pant and a soft hoodie in the winter. I guess my favorite outfit is what makes me most happy when I'm wearing it!

2. Describe your personal style.
Comfortable casual.

3. Approximately how much do you spend on fashion/personal care annually?
Not nearly as much as most people. I still wear things that over 30 years old! Classics man.

4. Do you dress for yourself or for everyone else?
I dress for me. When I was working at the school I loved the uniform as it was freeing. Figure that. I do, still, wear a lot of yoga clothes, but yeah. Mostly just for me.

5. Give us your best fashion/personal care advice.
Take good care of yourself, your skin (drink water people!)and your clothes.

Time for [community profile] thefridayfive!!

1. Do you think you have a healthy lifestyle?
Well...healthier than some, not as good as others. I've been walking every day, teaching/doing yoga about 3 times a week. Eat oatmeal everyday for breakfast. We recently cut way back on the coffee and I've started having green (spinach) smoothies for lunch.

2. What could you do to improve it?
I'm a WIP (pronounce that "whip") as are we all. I probably eat too much at one sitting. I probably could exercise more. I could be vegetarian or vegan but that's highly doubtful. Let's say that's 100% doubtful. I'm sure there are other things I could be doing.

3. Are you tempted to eat every time you are hungry or do you wait for the next meal?
Honestly? That depends on my mood. I'm an emotional, comfort eater. If I'm feeling really badly or depressed; I eat. And I'm not talking apples here...burgers, fries, ice cream. All the comfort foods. So when I'm good, I'm very good and when I'm bad...join me!

4. When are you most tempted to snack?
I love salty snacks! My go-to is popcorn loaded with butter and Parmesan cheese! Sadly (or luckily depending on your viewpoint) I get those nasty kernels stuck in my teeth, so I have to REALLY REALLY want it.

5. Do you agree with the saying: "Eat your breakfast, share your lunch with a friend and give your dinner to your enemy" or do you think it matters?
That wouldn't work for me. I'm trying to find the balance of eating more during the day so I eat less at dinner. Definitely a balancing act.

I couldn't find a Friday Five for last week, but here is this weeks. It just got put up on [community profile] thefridayfive today.

1) Where did you go, and what did you do, on your last vacation trip?
We drove to Wheatland Wyoming to visit old and dear friends. We stayed over in Kimball Junction UT in the snazziest Best Western ever! The drive to Park City, err, Kimball Junction is boooring. The drive the next day from Kimball Junction to Wheatland wasn't horrible. We got to Wheatland close to 1pm and spent the next two days on our friends glorious 35 acre ranch and just....were. It was awesome to spend time with them. We left on Sunday and drove to Jackson Wy to the Grand Teton's and Jackson Hole. Where the rich and beautiful people play. It was a lot like Park City in that it's a ski town, it's touristy and it's spendy. But we had fun. We stayed two nights, saw tons of wildlife, got some great pics and then we drove home.

2) How often do you take trips for pleasure?
We try to go at least once a year. It's easier for just us two as we are easily entertained. :)

3) How much vacation time do you take each year?
Well, His Lordship gets 5 weeks and I had the entire summer off. Now I have every day off! Ha! He still gets 5 weeks.

4) Are you satisfied/happy with the amount of time off you can take?
Yes, now. Then? Hmmm, maybe not.

5) What would be your ideal or dream vacation if money and time were no object?
I would go to the UK and Italy. I would take as much time as I need and visit everyone and everything! It would be glorious.

I see I've neglected to link [community profile] thefridayfive, hopefully this remedies that!

Would you rather [entertainment version]...
1. Download music // buy a CD
I have a feeling most of these answers will sound the same. In this case, it would depend on what I'm using the music for! And honestly? I like listening to the radio. Yes, yes, iz old.

2. Use MP3 player // Use CD Player
Again, depends. I use the MP3 player on my walks (listening to the radio!) and I use a CD player when doing yoga.

3. Watch a movie at a theater // Rent a video
I can count on one hand the times we've gone to a theater in the past 5 years. Sigh. So expensive! But we did see the big movies! I can't wait until November and the "Bohemian Rhapsody" movie to come out! Mostly we watch on "the" Netflix or "the" Amazon. Heh.

4. Amusement park for the day // Picnic in a park for a day
Amusement parks were tons of fun when we were younger and when the kids were little. Now? Eh. Picnic in the park sounds fun - are you bringing the fried chicken?

5. Read a magazine // Dollage with a magazine
First, I think it meant "collage" as I have no idea what "dollage" is. And read, definitely read.

I had this ready to go, so I'll post it. I'm super tired today and His Lordship is feeling under the weather as well. I'm call it and will answer comments tomorrow.

1. Is there a smell that will immediately sicken you?
Umm, the normal nasty stuff. As for food? Menudo=tripe. Cannot stand it. Ugh.

2. When you want quiet, where do you go?
Well, it's pretty quiet in my house right now as I'm home alone most days. When the kids lived at home my go-to was my bathroom. Yeah. I know, but the door locked. Now if I need some alone time and I'm not alone, I go to the yoga room and shut the door with my sign that I'm doing yoga.

3. Do you need/prefer total darkness when you sleep?
I like dark. We have blackout shades due to the shift work His Lordship has always done. I can't sleep with the covers over my head, I need a fan blowing on me, but I do need/want dark.

4. What is your least favorite taste?
Hmmm, I don't like organ meat. At. All. Anything over salted is not well received.

5. How heavily do you rely upon your sense of touch?
Pretty much. I touch type, I crochet, I talk with my hands all the time.

At least new to me. I find I don't post near enough and it's good for me to do so, so....[community profile] thefridayfive it is!
