I didn’t sleep terrifically last night, feet were bothering me, my brain wouldn’t turn off. It happens. I woke up, the first time, at about 5am, but me being me I went back to sleep. I think I slept until about 8. I’ve burst some blood vessels in my left eye (too early for Halloween o-O) and it’s a bit ‘weepy’ in the morning. I slowly woke up, grabbed my tablet and finished the book I was reading. My phone started knocking at me (that’s my text message notification) and I finally got out of bed close to 9. Did I mention that it’s also gotten cold here? Yeah.

My eye is definitely on the mend. Kitchen, tea, and internet. I’m trying very, very hard to avoid all the drama on the social media. I’m gutted by recent happenings, but I have so much going on myself I just can’t deal with it all right now. I’m anxiously awaiting my voting stuff and want to early vote.

Around 11, I went to the couch and started working on my Knockers and watching mindless TV. At about 10 after 11am I got a phone call from mom’s place telling me she’d fallen out of her wheelchair. This makes about 5 falls in the last month or so. They said she was fine, they were just informing me and they would be calling hospice. Yes, we now have hospice in place. Hospice won’t verify one way or the other that this is the end or even that she’ll last for longer than 6 months (which is the time limit). I get that the place needs help and you know what…if it helps, let’s do it.

Lunch at noon, smoothie and a protein bar. More crocheting. With all that’s been going on between my mom and my step mom and all the angst – it’s all I can do to crochet and watch mindless TV when I’m not actively engaged in say, vacuuming or grocery shopping.

His Lordship got home around 2:30 and we watched his daily Youtube stuff on the TV. We also went outside and got some more lemon cucumbers and peppers and the acorn squash he grew. I was really thinking the acorn squash would go nuts (it’s squash!) but we only got 5 fairly small ones. It was enough to make a meal. I started prepping that about 4:30.

We invited His Lordship’s pal W over for dinner so I put some real pants on (I was wearing my flannels – it has gotten colder). Finished making dinner; stuffed acorn squash and a salad. The acorn squash stuffing was full of fall flavors – brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, sage, onion and apples along with with ground beef and bacon. Yum! W showed up right at 6 and we ate. W brought salted caramel ice cream (he was my favorite yesterday; I love caramel!). Then we watched “The Death of Stalin” as W hadn’t seen it. I crocheted.

W left around 8:30 and His Lordship and I ordered some stuff off of the Home Depot website (blinds that the dog had eaten about 10 years ago, a big floor fan as ours crapped out and they don’t have fans at the store anymore (winter!) and a new exhaust fan for the bathroom as it is crapping out as well). Spend the money like we have it!

His Lordship went to bed at 10 and I stayed up until 10:30.

*hugs you tight* Sounds like the RL stuff isn't getting much better yet. Although I might almost drive all the way to Nevada for that stuffed squash.....

It's never ending. Got a call from the hospice chaplain and he seemed...disappointed?...that I wasn't all weepy and sad. There is a time and place for everything. Sadly, I can't get straight answers from anyone as no one wants to be the bearer of bad tidings. JUST TELL ME!

I might have to put the recipe up...I've gotten lots of comments on it!

How frustrating! I'm sorry!

I’m surprised your mom is not strapped into her wheelchair if she’s fallen out before? Over here they have a seatbelt arrangement to help prevent that. It does need monitoring though as too long in one position of course leads to bedsores.

I hope you manage to fit something fun into your days soon so you feel a bit better.

Yes, but she doesn't like the seatbelt and they can't physically restrain her (or chemically restrain her) by law. In a skilled nursing facility (read nursing home) but not at the memory care. Same with bed rails, I asked. It's weird, but there ya go. And she has sores, which are new. So after my eye heals up (I burst a blood vessel and look like a demon) I'll be over there and up in the doc's grill.

(((many hugs))) You have to take care of yourself the best way you can, however that might be.
