Day 2: What technology are you grateful for?

All of it? It's a mixed bag to be honest. I feel like it can become a bit intrusive; especially when it comes to kids. My poor kids couldn't even ditch a class without me knowing. Sad, that. They couldn't get away with anything!

I like the idea that I can be connected without leaving home. But I like to leave home too! I like the cell phone, but....it's a phone! When I got my "smart" phone, I told the guy I wanted a phone that could, "...make calls, receive calls, make texts, receive texts..." So I have a smart phone that doesn't have all the bells and whistles. And I'm fine with that.

I was, after all, the computer "teacher". Heh.

I admit I often leave my phone at home when I go out. I like not being available all the time. If I do take it it’s always on silent so I only check it every now and again and people have to wait for that :)

It's only been the last few days I'm not obsessively checking to see if I have any calls. I was so attuned to the phone as I was getting multiple daily calls re: my mom. I'm learning that I can let that go now.

I feel that! I want to be connected but only on my terms. My phone is for my convenience, not anyone else's.

Exactly so!

I must admit that I'm pretty tied to my smart phone. It's easy to get addicted to the constant checking for notifications. I try to keep on silent/vibrate though.

I'm trying to keep mine...not so close. Since I can't use it for apps and such...it really is a phone!
