A Reading Post!

I always manage to pick one book that just...drags. In this case it was the book by Stephen Alford
The Watchers: A Secret History of the Reign of Elizabeth I. I opined that maybe Good Queen Bess was a slayer - I wish. The book was interesting, but dry. And I wasn't in the mood for dry and it took me a loooong time to finish. I might revisit it someday, but I'm thinking, no.

I've been reading the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik. I've finished the first 3 books; His Majesty's Dragon, The Jade Throne and Black Powder War. I really like how she writes and it's interesting to see how she weaves her dragons into history.

I think I'll take a break from the series for a bit though. I don't know what I'm going to read next.

Thank you for mentioning the Novik series. Dragons in history sounds too interesting to pass up.

And dang it, now I need someone to write a book where Elizabeth is a witch who fights demons or something....
