Because I'm trying to get back into the habit of posting every day, I thought I'd do this meme thing that
enigmaticblues is doing. It's a getting to know you thing. I think most of you know me as well as you can from the interwebz. Some of you I've met in person (yay!) and some of you I wish I could meet in person (hope springs eternal!). So, *sings* "Getting to know you...getting to know all about you....."
The basics: I'm almost 50 (yeah, you read that correctly - stop laughing), female, married with two boy type children. Been married for 21 years...22 come April. Married the first man who asked me; no I wasn't desperate, just desperately in love! Use silly nom de plums for the menfolk awarded by a my dear friend
avalonjones; His Lordship, The Heir and The Spare.
The Heir is 17 and well, he's a doll. I love that kid. He just gets more and more entertaining as he gets older. He makes me nuts, but that's because we are very much alike (much to his dismay). He's smart, sassy and funny. I have high hopes for that boy. The Spare is going to be 15 in 2 days. He's my baby. Yeah, yeah, but he is. He's just as whip-smart as his big brother, but he has his own unique personality that I adore. He's very loving and kind and I know he'll go far.
I grew up in Tucson, went to school for a year in Wisconsin (Eau Claire) and then back to Tucson. Met His Lordship and moved to Casa Grande. His job brought us to Sparks (Reno). We really like it here and have no plans on moving again.
I've worked as an Escrow Officer, a school/Superintendent/School Board secretary, was a stay at home mom for many years, lunch lady and now computer person, er excuse me... Education Technology Specialist. I always wanted to be a teacher, but now I'd probably be fired for telling parents that their special little snowflake isn't so special. Good thing I'm hidden away in the lab. ;)
I'm a flaming liberal when I'm not feeling rather conservative...I think it's my age. I think everyone should be able to love whomsoever they choose. I thing we should keep religion out of schools and politics. Sarah Palin scares the crap outta me. I don't think you should be friends with your children (grown children excepted). You can't parent your friends. I think you should be strict but not stifling.
I go to Burning Man, but I'm not a nudie or a druggie or a raver. I like the freedom of expression. I hope someday my boys go when they are adults (just don't camp near me - kthanxbai).
I like a nice adult beverage, I eat too much. I love to exercise, but I'm lazy. I like to sleep. I love to read. I scrapbook, crochet, bead, bake and cook. I wish we could entertain more, but life is busy.
I love my husband and children with a fire that burns brighter than a thousand suns.
