A Friendly PSA

I'm trying really hard to change my attitude about all this. It's not easy. I don't know how I'll do, but for now...okay.

First PSA: I bought a boatload of onions because...onions. Most of my meals begin with onions, garlic and peppers. We've been freezing peppers for years, to save the crop His Lordship grows as well as to have readily on hand. Well. Those onions were already starting to turn. This has never happened before and His Lordship opined that they were the "old" onions that were being put out. Maybe. So I cut them up and put them in freezer bags and froze them. Et viola! Onions whenever I need them.

Second PSA: We watch Youtube vids. Mostly home improvement stuff, woodworking stuff and we found this really cool one called "Ask a Mortician". I know I've mentioned her before; Caitlin Dougherty. Kids...you need to watch the latest one. It will make you sad, but it might reduce the panic. Seriously. Watch her. She's awesome and awe inspiring.

Hang tough my peeps! We can, we will ABIDE!!!

I have a lot of onions but I love them too. Today I shall use some as we are going to make home made pizza - yum!!

I do that with onions - so much better to just get a small bag out of the freezer than have to peel and chop every time.

We can actually buy bags of chopped or sliced red or white onions in the local supermarket, and if they are reduced because it is the end of the day I buy them, too, and put them in the freezer - that is the ultimate lazy way to do it!

I used to buy frozen raw onions when the kids were at home so I'd have quick dinners. Got out of that habit, maybe I need to get back into it!

I just cut up a bunch of peppers to freeze too.

It's so funny that you are posting about onions. I mistakenly bought two bags of yellow onions on my last Instacart order. I was thinking that they would go bad. I was trying to given them away; no one wanted them (it's hard to disinfect onions, lol). And then someone suggested that I carmelize them and then freeze them. But you can freeze them fresh? Really? Because I have to do this soon.

I don't worry about cleaning them as I peel them. I don't worry about cleaning anything I peel, yanno?

Yes, you can freeze just about any fruit or veg. Google! It's my best friend!!!
