Day 174

Okay, I'm done for the day. Except for exercising and showering. We got up hella early and went to the grocery store. Gotta say, not loving the old folks. Men with the nose penii hanging out. Women too. And so entitled. Shoving and pushing you out of the way. No social distancing at all. Not to mention you have to fight all the employees restocking everything as it's early. AND it's the first 10 days of the month so...yeah. But we got everything we needed and got outta there!

I had a dentist appointment today. First time I've been to an office of any kind since the pandemic/lockdown/quarantine started. Frankly, I wasn't worried as dentist's have been dealing with HIV protocol for years. The only difference during my appointment was the hygienist had me rinse my mouth with some peroxide-y stuff that foamed up. And she wore a shield OVER her already masked/eye shield glasses. They are really good. All is well with my toofus too! No summer teef fo' me! (You know that joke..."...they gots summer teef...sum er' here, sum er' there....") Bwahahaha.

So that's my story for today. I can hear the littles outside. Interesting, my hygienist lives in my neighborhood and her kids go to the school where I worked. She said both her kids teachers don't allow the kids outside for lunch recess. I'm guessing what I'm hearing is a class or two. There are teachers out there with them. But no social distancing, lots of screaming and no masks. Honestly? I'm guessing they are "older" teachers. They are the ones that seem to have the most trouble following the new rules. The know best, dontcha know? And, of course, not all are like that. But from my experience...yeah. The hygienist's kids have newer/younger teachers and are not allowing the kids out unless strictly supervised. Interesting, no?

Alright. Gonna go abide now. Maybe wash my hands, and face. ;)

2 What is the first historical event you clearly remember?
I clearly remember the gas crisis and the Watergate hearings. I was 12. I'm old enough to know other things, but I honestly think my mother shielded us from the "bad" stuff. I know about these because I was with my dad and stepmom.

A Friendly PSA

I'm trying really hard to change my attitude about all this. It's not easy. I don't know how I'll do, but for now...okay.

First PSA: I bought a boatload of onions because...onions. Most of my meals begin with onions, garlic and peppers. We've been freezing peppers for years, to save the crop His Lordship grows as well as to have readily on hand. Well. Those onions were already starting to turn. This has never happened before and His Lordship opined that they were the "old" onions that were being put out. Maybe. So I cut them up and put them in freezer bags and froze them. Et viola! Onions whenever I need them.

Second PSA: We watch Youtube vids. Mostly home improvement stuff, woodworking stuff and we found this really cool one called "Ask a Mortician". I know I've mentioned her before; Caitlin Dougherty. Kids...you need to watch the latest one. It will make you sad, but it might reduce the panic. Seriously. Watch her. She's awesome and awe inspiring.

Hang tough my peeps! We can, we will ABIDE!!!

3 What is the funniest real name you have ever heard?
I worked at a school and heard some really funny/weird names. There was a family that named the kids "Feather", "Lace" and "Leather". There are so many others, but that stands out.

4 Does a person’s name influence the person they become?
Maybe? I don't have a "traditional" girls name. I don't know that it influenced me any. I do tend, as said before, to pre-judge people based on their name. I think we all do. One tries not to though.

31 Who is your favourite Mike?
I have a friend who I email every weekday. We started doing this to combat boredom during MAP testing when we both worked at the school district. She has a different job now and I'm at home, but we still email once a day. On Wednesdays we always title our subject line; "Mike!". You'd have to watch the Geico Hump Day Camel commercial to get it. It makes us laugh and that's all that really matters. So she's my favorite Mike!!

In this life I’m a woman. In my next life, I’d like to come back as a bear. When you’re a bear, you get to hibernate. You do nothing but sleep for six months. I could deal with that.

Before you hibernate, you’re supposed to eat yourself stupid. I could deal with that, too.

When you’re a girl bear, you birth your children (who are the size of walnuts) while you’re sleeping and you awaken to partially grown, cute, cuddly cubs. I could definitely deal with that.

If you’re a mama bear, everyone knows you mean business. You swat anyone who bothers your cubs. If your cubs get out of line, you swat them, too. I could deal with that.

If you’re a bear, your mate EXPECTS you to wake up growling. He EXPECTS that you will have hairy legs and excess body fat.

I would say cold pizza and cold milk, but I think leftover pizza is pretty common. How about cold tacos and cold milk? Yum.

If I wanted it to be inconspicuous, I'd go with rabbit. If I wanted it to be useful, I'd go with monkey. If I wanted it to be ornamental, donkey!

21 Would you rather not be able to see any colors or have mild but constant tinnitus (ringing in the ears)?
His Lordship and I were just having this conversation re: tinnitus. He has tinnitus and it's fairly mild and he deals. I could deal, I guess. I would miss colors.

22 What is your most interesting quirk?
Matching. It's part of my CDO (which is OCD in the correct order - ha!). It's one reason why I've never gotten a tattoo....how do I know it will match all my outfits??? Silly, but there ya go. Nail polish matches, eye shadow matches, jewelry matches. I had an Aunt (and a bit less so my mom) who matched her belts, bags and shoes. I LOVED looking in her closet and seeing all the colors! I try to be more "spontaneous" about my choices, but it's pretty ingrained. Luckily I didn't infect The Princelings; they were mismatched socks all the time. Drives me bonkers! ;)

Hmmm, I seem to recall in elementary school (Grades 1-6) that we had an ice cream sale after lunches. It was up to the 6th graders to run it...I have no idea if the funds went to a specific program. I used to love to save up and buy a Dreamsicle. My love of Dreamsicles is eternal.

I do not. However, when The Heir was wee, we went to one of those paint your own pottery places and he made a plate. All meals had to be served on said plate. It was an odd shape and had to be hand washed. He got it when he moved out. Heh.
