I haven't done this in a while so....
51. League of Dragons by Naomi Novik
This was the final book in the Temerarie series. It was a fitting denouement, I thought. At least it left no bad taste in my mouth. The books can get tedious (teejus) if you try and read them one right after the other, but there is a great deal of history interwoven in the fantasy. I would definitely recommend them to young people.
52. Dune by Frank Herbert
I grabbed this, the first book in the Dune series, when my mom went to the ER back in August. I kept it in my purse and every time I had to go to the hospital, I had something to read. I also took it on the plane with me when we went to San Diego over Labor Day. I was the only one I could see with a real book. Ha! This is my second copy of this book. I found the same edition at a used bookstore and grabbed it as my original is falling apart, binding broken, glue gone. I love Dune and you would too if you read the book (and didn't watch the movie - that was pretty awful). Praise Shai-Hulud!
53. Mary Queen of Scots by Antonia Fraser
Now you would think an Anglophile like me would have read this, but you would be wrong. A friend, who has the same taste in books as me, allowed me to borrow her copy. She's had it since she was a teen and she's in her 60's now. Did you read above about the broken binding, glue gone? Yeah. It took me over a month to read this. I was being very careful AND since there was so much information, there were days I just couldn't wrap my mind around it all. Gotta say, I think Mary got a raw deal. I've always been a huge Elizabeth I fan, but man.
54. The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot
The last two books were real, paper books. I found that I couldn't read those at night so I got on my library app and found this. Very different from the movie. Still good, but man, so different. I'll, for curiosity sake, try and read the rest of them, but I'm not fussed about it.
55. Disney by Rees Quinn
Another digital library book. I was hoping for an in-depth bio about Walt, but it was a fluff piece. Nothing I didn't already know. Rather disappointing.
The next book in the Red Queen series popped up, so I'll be reading that next.
